11. Polite software stays focused
Software that stays focused provides context but is zoomed into the specific task at hand and it removes other distractions.
Software that stays focused makes the user more efficient in their tasks improving their productivity.
When designing software that stays focused we must make sure that while context is present unneccessary things do not distract the user. We should also make sure that things do not compete for attention, but that there is a hierarchy of components that can be scanned. This often means that information should be neatly organized.
Software that stays focused strikes a balance between removing distraction while being appropriately forthcoming.
